About me

I started programming when I was 7, sitting in front of an Amstrad CPC 464. Ever since, building software has been my passion.

A detour

Even so, when I started working I soon changed course towards systems administration: first Solaris, then Linux. Back then, running systems still had something of a craft to it, and open source was hard to resist for someone who likes to dig all the way down.

Over time I found my way back to development, and now, like everyone else in the industry, I'm riding the AI wave.

Coding for myself

I never stopped programming, but I mostly did it for myself. Showing my creations to anyone else always felt a little embarrassing.

At university I made Free Chess, a chess game that started as nothing more than an excuse to try something with DirectX. It soon became the number 1 game on Softonic, and it stayed there for many years.

Much later I picked it up again and wrote a graphics engine from scratch. With a more advanced version of that engine I made Free Backgammon. I kept working on the engine, but for lack of time I never released anything built with its latest versions. Although, truth be told, I cared more about building the engine than about what I made with it.

Why now?

After a long pause, I think this is a good moment to come back: thanks to AI, turning an idea into something real is now much faster. So I've decided to simply publish whatever I come up with.

That's what Pardolabs is: the place where I put it.
